In 1950, the world's population of 2.5 billion produced 1.5 million tons of plastic; in 2016, a global population of more than 7 billion people produced over 320 million tons of plastic. This is set to double by 2034. Every day approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution find their way into our oceans. The outcome?Over 100 million marine animals are killed each year due to plastic debris in the ocean. Currently, it is estimated that there are 100 million tons of plastic in oceans around the world.
What is your view on plastic pollution? What do you think we need to do to stop the evergrowing increase in marine animal deaths and help to make our oceans cleaner?

Well 1 thing that could help is that some sort of World wide watchdog needs to tell companies to use commonsense and stop packaging things in plastic that really don't need to be or never were back in the 1950s. As an example lots of supermarkets sell food wrapped in excess plastic when they could just sell loose verisons of the same product ie apples carrots etc.
Toy shops sell toys in excess plastic boxes, when a cardboard 1 would suffice. Soft drink manufacturers use plastic bottles over glass ones ( although the drinks taste better in glass bottles no doubt about it - I presume for cheapness?) however glass bottles could be used in tarmac for road resurfacing though.
