With those grades possibly; i think you would stand a good chance although i am not an admissions tutor but with that grammer, not a chance!

I was just asking about my grades not the grammar!

If you've got a good personal statement and excellent references. But, you'll never know unless you try!

i have got a really good personal statement and reference. so you think my grades are okay for LSE?

Are you overseas or home student? I know that some home students with excellent grades complained about overseas that are accepted with lower ones.

Anyway good grades, statement or references are of course important but do not guarantee anything.

I should think that with a strong set of references and personal statement you should have no problem getting into accounting and finance. As your predictions are well above the standard offer.

But if you are not sure, then maybe you should only apply to one course at LSE and use the other space on your UCAS form for a uni that you are more confident you will get an offer from

Students enrol to LSE normally with grades well above the standard requirements required by LSE. For example, I know that students commonly have 4As, 5As and even Distinction in AEA Economics enrolling to LSE's Government and Economics last year (standard offer is ABB only). You should try to write a good PS and may consider to take one AEA subject to enhance your chance to enrol to LSE.

I have to agree with the posters above - your academic qualifications seem sound but you must ensure your personal statement is also of a high quality. For example, try to convey a genuine sense of excitement for your chosen course(s) (can one get excited over accountancy? ).

Someone said earlier that overseas students get accpeted with lower qualifications. Does anyone know what standard they look for from students in the US?

Mate,

My GCSE's: 6A's 4B's
My AS's: aabc (c in maths, barely a c, 183)
Predicted: AAA.

Applied for Economics and Economic History, offer was AAB (A in maths req.!). Missed my offer by one mark in the end (got AAB, but B was in maths - 479 equates to about a third of a mark!).But will receive an unconditional offer for 2005.

What im trying to say is its not all about academic achievement, i did'nt get 20A*'s at GCSE and 6A's at AS-Level. But you do have to have a strong PS, and I dont want to sound arrogant, but mine was very strong (as was my reference).

Dont be disheartened by people telling you that your grades may not be good enough, because guaranteed its not the only thing they look at when making offers. I know someone who even did A-Level re-sits and managed to get into LSE.

If you do want to go LSE - just be positive and go for it!

Chill,

I did every one of my maths modules in Upper sixth, 3 re-takes, 3 I would have taken anyway.

I sent in my new results to LSE so they knew I was doing better. You should do the same. LSE knew that I would be re-taking certain AS modules. How else would i be able to get my c to the A they wanted.

No. I did a re-take in Nov. 2003. It was S1, I originally got 56/100 in the summer, my new result was 92/100, which came back in Jan. 2004. I sent this in and it must have made them realise I went through a bad patch in year 12. They made me my offer late February.

to be frank, you dont stand a chance but seeing you have six choices andyou will still have four left you really have nothing to lose

why do you say i do not stand a chance. my grades and predicted grades are well above the req.
Reply 19
the req is a minimum not a target all students applying would be capable of getting those grades. Most will be predicted 3As like urself.
