Hi there,

Doing Year 10 mocks science triology (higher). I read today that it is worth TWO GCSEs. I'm doing three papers. How is it split? Is it like one for Chemistry and Biology or just two triology?

Thanks

You have to do exams in all three sciences (bio, chem and phy) and based on your overall results, you are given a double grade (e.g. 7-7 or 6-5). As there is so much to learn, it is a double award that is worth 2 GCSEs.

Are there any set boundaries or does it go on what other people achieve? I'm finding the whole thing hard, esp with chemistry and physics.

I’m doing combined and I think it’s your total and then divided by 6 (bc 6 tests) and then whatever grade that falls into is what you’ve got. Either that or it’s the first 3 tests and the second 3 tests 🤷🏻*♀️

It’s a pain, currently in year 11 and stressing, I’d recommend you get the Collins combined science trilogy textbook (assuming you’re on AQA) it’s a massive help:
