I am doing higher tier French and predicted a 5/6, is it wise for me to do French A level?

It depends how realistic that prediction is. If you think with hard work you can achieve closer to a 7/8/9, preferably the top end, and you enjoy it then try and go for it. The jump however, between GCSE and A level is massive. If you achieved a 5/6 in GCSE I wouldn’t recommend doing the A level, you’ll be starting too far behind on what’s already a demanding course.
