I got my tongue pierced today and I'm just wondering what types of foods I can eat. I tried chicken soup but that was a little too hard and also I really don't want to be eating it for 2-3 days.
My tongue is a little swollen and I'm still finding it hard to swallow sivila so I’ll need something smooth. I’m also going to try some ice cream if I can manage not to get it everywhere.
Any food that you can suck without moving your mouth is a good thing so soups without bits, ice creams and ice are probably gonna be a major part of your diet for a few days. McDonalds milkshakes will dramatically reduce the swelling and give you some energy too.
You can move onto mashed potato and gravy in a few days.
You could try making juices or smoothies? Drink them through straws I guess them you can just put it to the back of your throat. Mine didn't swell but the length of the bar took getting used to while eating for a couple of days. You'll probably find it gets easier tomorrow and after!

I thought of that but my blender is broke Going to buy some straws tomorrow I just don't know what they will hold.
Also yes the bar feels very strange and is taking a while to get used to. Every so often it gets caught on bottom teeth And talking is a pain in the bum, sounds as if I'm drunk.
they told me not too eat dairy straight away with mine - i just drank a lot of juice, as well as smoothies and mashed potato, soup, thats your lot rele!
Hm. When I got mine done, I stuck to soup (creamy soups are best - I'm not sure which chicken soup you tried, but the Heinz one has bits of chicken in it, which are too hard to eat!) for about a week, until the swelling went down and I could have the smaller bar fitted. I lost around half a stone.
Unless you can get your blender fixed, your main choices, really, are going to be soups and ice-cream. Don't worry, it'll only be a couple of days until it stops hurting so much - and as soon as you get the smaller bar fitted, you should notice an immediate change in the pain/speaking problems.

Good luck with the straws, sucking can be a complete pain in the neck at first It must be the shape your tongue makes to suck that makes it awkward but i couldn't use straws for days.
Smooth creamy soups are good. You can drink them through a straw placed towards the back of your mouth, so you just swallow it without it touching your piercing.
I found sucking hurt too much (it's the most painful piercing I've ever had done and I had my septum done once). I just ate things like cocktail sausages which I placed on my back teeth to chew. I found that easier.
also yogurt, milkshake, soup, and strange but amazingly nice, baby food!
if you do start back on solids before you have the bar changed, watch your teeth, it really hurts if you catch the bar whilst you're chewing!
xxx
I've found that out a few times I've moved on to some solid foods but mainly on soups, which is a pain as it fills my stomach up in size but not quality.
At the moment I'm just testing different foods i.e mini spring rolls, tuna pasta etc to see what I can handle.
Things are going well; no pain just discomfortable but I can deal with that. Ooo and that fact I sound like a right **** while talking, but that's mainly because I'm a little worried on moving bar too much while talking and getting it caught.
I've been cleaning it with listerine mouth wash in the morning and evening. And during day I've been using salt water to risen any food out. Only annoying thing is brushing tongue as I've never been fond of doing that
Ice cream and yoghurts are both amazing for the taking away some of the pain and helping the swelling to go down! I just had a massive problem with using a spoon when i first got mine done, sooo paranoid about it touching the bar! lol

Listerine is quite harsh - if you're going to use mouthwash, make sure it's alcohol free and even then, if it stings at all, dilute it a bit too
Stock up on ice lollies! And if you want to eat something badly enough, you will. I remember struggling through a bread roll once, it took me about half an hour but it was very satisfying in the end!
