You will not be working for 9 hours on a saturday or sunday, because one and a half hours of that time are your breaks. So you are only really working 7.5 + two 15 minute paid breaks + an unpaid lunch hour.

also on school nights i think the law says under 18's can finish at 7 or 8 the latest
I don't think that is correct, I used to work untill 9:30pm at Morrisons on weekday nights, and 10:30 on a weekend. Some departments [such as warehouse] can be even l;ater
I think the law says under 18's can't work between 11pm and 7am. Or something. It certainly isn't as early as 8/9 as ALL supermarkets emply students/under 18s in the evenings as they're usually the only people that'll work then.
i did business today and i remember on the direct gov site it says under 18's cannot work later than 7 on mon-thu and on the sunday but i think when i signed the morrisons contract opted out of it

If you're under 18 but over school leaving age (you're under school leaving age until the end of summer term of the school year in which you turn 16) you're classed as a young worker. Under the law you're not allowed to work at night (normally this is 10.00 pm to 6.00 am but you can agree to change this to 11.00 pm to 7.00 am). There are some exceptions to this (for example, if you work in a hospital or hotel). You can have 30 minutes rest break if you work longer than four and a half hours at a stretch."
Exceptions
Limits on night work don't apply if:
* you have to travel a long distance from your home to get to work or you constantly work in different places * you're doing security or surveillance-based work * you're working in an industry with busy peak periods, like agriculture, retail or tourism * there's an emergency or there might be an accident * the job needs round-the-clock staffing (for example, hospital work) * you're employed in the rail industry and you work on board trains or your activities are irregular or linked to seeing that trains run on time
Working in a supermarket is classed as retail, therefore is exempt from the night time rules.
No its when youre under 18 i've done my GCSEs i'm not allowed to work over 8hours. I work 8.5 on Saturdays but half hour is my lunch if i worked 9 hours it would be an hour lunch
