Hey guys

I'm an international student applying for two universities (Bath and UEA) for Masters. For the personal statement, the current format I have is Times New Roman 12pt, as for the line spacing, is 1.15 acceptable? or must it be at least 1.5? i don't know what "single-space" is considered efficient? But i really dislike double space. In the universities' online application there is no mention for the format that's required, only the world limit. And with regards to the word limit, when they state that they require "approximately 500 words" would 550 be okay? The other program says "at least 250" so what the maximum word limit would be for that one? i'm assuming 550 would also be fine.

Any help will be appreciated!

They're not assessing your presentation skills, so just concentrate on getting the information across. Line spacing is almost certainly irrelevant.

550 words is fine.

Good luck!

Haha! thank you! well sometimes I see people are very critical when talking about these things! just don't want to upset the admissions people.

I'll just stick to the format i have then i guess!

Hey there!

As a current UEA postgrad, I can safely assure you that the formatting of my personal statement did not come under that much scrutiny!

Put it this way - if you believe the format you use is suitable for an essay, then its also fine for a personal statement too.

Best of luck on your applications!
