Mechanical vs. Electrical and Electronic Engineering Offer

I've been researching about Engineering university courses but haven't decided yet between mechanical or electrical and electronic engineering. However, I realised that for some universities such as Imperial and UCL the offer requirement for EEE is often lower than that for mechanical engineering. Why is it so? Does this imply that their mechanical engineering is a more prestigious course?

It's probably to do with supply and demand. Mechanical probably has more applicants than electrical & electronics.
