Of course people just lie. This isn't something that will make things safer for kids, it just means the companies can pass the responsibility along to parents for raising dishonest kids. And I agree, there is a wider problem than Whatsapp letting kids use it. The first thing is parents letting their kids use or even have their own phone - this needs to be done properly in the same way you don't just give your kid a pet puppy. Dos and don'ts, along with whys and why nots are the best approach, and if your kid isn't mature enough to understand the whys and why nots then don't let them have the phone.
