Keep chanting "GO Tesco, Tesco is my life! Repeat after me everyone, clap your hands in the air wooooooo"

My tesco interview was a joke. I ended up telling the guy about having to get an afternoon off school so I could accompany my friend to get the morning after pill. He was very uncomfortable around me from then on, thank god. I worked there for 6 months stacking shelves but it was a real nightmare so I left. Group interviews are not a problem, you won't even need to prepare. Just relax, be polite and friendly. Good luck.

"Customers favourite place to shop" Their mission statement. Casually slip it into conversation!

Ive got a group interview with Tescos on Tuesday. Ive never done a group interview so I was hoping someone here might be able to help me out with what to expect ?

You don't get interviewed as such. Just fill in questionnaires and watch induction-y videos. My interview was individual, and came before being invited to the group "interview".

I've been working at Tesco for just over a year.

I was interviewed on a one-to-one basis, though the group work started after I got the job. I was asked basic questions such as why I wanted the job, what I had done to prepare for the interview etc... it was nothing special.

When a friend of mine had her interview, she had to work on the shop floor for a few hours - i.e. putting out the meat and working alongside the manager. She had loads of questionnaires to fill in and she was timed on everything.

gah! cant say im looking forward to it after all that! repetition of the mission statement and 'GO TESCO GO WHOO!' chant will get me through for sure though

btw, its the watford extra store im going to too, the place is huge and ive gotta try and find the staff entrance 'round the back' somehow! should be fun.

thanks
just hope it isn't anything like ASDA's group interviews where just the other day my friend had to make a structure out of straws and perform a magic trick..fun!

It's not hard- park in the staff carpark and just follow the path (the staff carpark is on the outside opposite the cafe). Warning: they require a good 3-4 weeks to change your shift times/days

cheers all for replies. doubt anyones interested but thoguht id just mention what we actually did in the interview yesterday.

there was about 16 of us and four assessors/interviewers. firstly, they blabbed about tesco being ace for abit (£1.6MILLION turnover in that store alone, in one week! :-O ) then we introduced ourselves in a 'what animal would you be if you could choose' way. then we were split into groups, given a task and a presentation to do. then we went into the store and were timed or assessed in some way on our facing ability. after which we filled in some health surveys etc. and finally there was a verbal question/answer session.

whole thing took an hour and a half and was pretty painless. a lot of people there either had poor english or were just shy teenagers, so its not too hard to put yourself near the top of the pile - dress well, talk loud and clearly, smile and be as friendly as possible. the main prob seemed to just be nervousness rather than being in any way incapable.

anyway, i passed so all thats easy for me to say. i now have my first job - yay.

good luck with anyone elses interviews  :thumbs up:

Heheh, I had an ASDA interview. I felt stupid having to do the lame ASDA chant and prepare a mock sale presentation for... wait for it... a pinny. lol

Needless to say, I wasn't offered the job.
