Psychology - Work experience

Hi,
I wanted to go into clinical psychology and was wondering what types of work experience I could do to boost my application as my grades weren't the best.

I know you can do it in mental health hospital and with psychologists but what other places could I do?

Currently I'm thinking of doing the following as extra in the summer:
- special needs children
- with old people who have mental illnesses / needs

Where else?

Thank you!

That's all good, all voluntary work is good. I'll tell you what is great though, 24 hour helplines, now that's commitment.

What do you mean?
Volunteering on a helpline?
How do i do this?

Thanks
A friend did it once, not sure what it was, but it required the individual to be on the phone 24 hours a day. Might of been something to do with abuse, or depression maybe. You would have to google something.
With regards to helplines, Samaritans are a good option. You work in shifts so no one is spending 24 hours a day on the end of a phone. From what I remember, you have to commit to one night shift every 2 or 4 weeks but the rest are in the day.
