Misheard Lyrics

What lyrics did you mishear, and spend ages singing along to a song before realising you were wrong?

I will start off the ball rolling:

Alphaville - Forever Young (Brilliant 80s cheese, used on the OC)

I thought the lyric 'I don't want to perish like a fading horse' was

'I don't want to perish like the Freikorps (a German right-wing paramilitary group that attempted to destabilise the Weimar republic after Word War I)'

It's a shame, I thought 'perish like the Freikorps' was a great lyric

Lol the classic..

The Kooks- Naive
'I know she knows that I'm not from the ROSTRUM?!'
That's how all my mates sing it now as a joke! x

No Doubt - just a girl.

The real lyrics are 'just your typical prototype' but i thought it was 'just your typical porno type'
I know I've done them but I'm terrible thinking of these things without warning.
I can however offer that when my Dad was young he used to think Rock The Casbah was *u** The Gasboard
"Jeremy" - Pearl Jam

"Jeremy spoke and leeeeeeft me.."

When really it's, "Jeremy spoke in class today.."

Talk about way off the mark.

i thought it was "i know, she knows, that i'm not from the rough scene" for MONTHS! aaah! (though i think that's more acceptable than "rostrum" :p:)

I thought the lyrics in I'm From Further North Than You - The Wedding Present, were:
'You were either drunk or you wanted me', but they really are - 'You were really drunk and you wanted me.'
Oh OK thought of one.
In Kate Bush's Babooshka I used to hear "To see if her would fall for her incognito" as "in cockney tones" which would've made it funnier.

Apparently, the term for a misheard lyric is a mondegreen.
theres actually a website full of these. may have to find the link!
in Duffy-Mercy i keep thinking she's singing 'begging you for bird seed'.
The Kooks - Naive appears to be a popular one...

My mate thought the lyrics to that were "i'm so not easy" instead of "i'm so naive" :|
When I was about 5, I used to mishear the lyrics to agadoo.
Instead of "push pineapple shake the tree" I used to sing "push pineapple shag the tree."
I wasn't even doing it to be humerous, I didn't even know what the word shag meant at the time!
explosiive

Haha, I thought that for ages. I didn't know why it was called Naive when the word wasn't even in the song

"I know, she knows, that I am not from Nebraska" was what I heard in that Kooks song.

Fall Out Boy - This Ain't A Scene: I thought that the chorus was "I'm a little man, I'm also evil, and also into cats, also into cats".

http://youtube.com/watch?v=GNLDLyeepVs This is quite amusing.

Backstreet Boys - 'I Want It That Way'

When I was little I thought "ain't nothing but a heartache" was "ain't nothing but a party" for some strange reason :s-smilie:
I think I was under the impression the song was about the stresses of teenage socialising and trying to get girlfriends...
