Thats just over 160lb. According to the BMI scale thing, you're probably overweight for your height. I dont know how far I'd trust BMI though...
It might just be that you're short for your weight.

4 years is a long time though!

I can't imagine you to be very overweight though, if you're a size 12...
im the same.. BMI wise.. 11st is the top end of 'normal' so you, and i, both fall into the overweight category. Only just..

You could probably do with losing about five or six pounds but that's hardly anything! I mean to be honest you could lose that in a fortnight. No need to panic at all. Just maybe cut back slightly on any sugary drinks/cake/chocolate/biscuits/crisps if they're a regular part of your diet, don't drink as much and take regular exercise. The weight will come off naturally. If you're a size 12 then you hardly need worry about your health!
I'm pretty much the same as you, around about 11 stone and the same sort of height. I'm trying to lose weight too, but just for aesthetics rather than any health issues.

So yeah, if I were you I wouldn't worry, but perhaps try and lose a few pounds if you're really that concerned. At least, that's what I'm doing!

In other words, "you're overweight"? I haven't heard that one before...

I sort of get what they're saying...As in, some people are just naturally built in a way that means that if they eat relatively healthily and 'normally', they'll be heavier than someone of the same height eating the same food.

Well, if that's what the poster was implying. :p:
I used to be about that weight (am 5'4'') but I am now just under 9st. TBH, I preferred being 11st. My boobs were much bigger! Love yourself and don't change for anyone. Size 12 is a brilliant size, just the right number of curves, trust!
It's unhealthily big imo, no offense but it's a stone heavier than me and I'm about 6ft. As for advice I'd say can the diet rubbish and find an exercise you enjoy.

Why do people keep bringing up her clothes size as if it's a determiner of health or fatness? So what if she's a size 12? There's no rule that says "if you're a size 12, you must be healthy, beautiful, and curvy."

Funny how people keep criticising BMI as a determiner of fatness, and then use clothes size as one. BMI is MUCH more useful than clothes size is.

Yeah, males are supposed to be heavier
She asked for an honest opinion and I gave her one, along with some advice. If she's that heavy and thinks she's a size twelve she's either deluded or carries her weight elsewhere, some people don't get big tummies.

I have never criticised BMI as such, and I wouldn't look just at clothes sizes either. But put the BMI (just above what is deemed normal, no?) together with a size 12, then that's not unhealthily fat! And I have never said anything about beautiful, healthy and curvy..

BMI is a poor judge of being overweight etc, it doesn't take into account any muscle you might have which is heavier then fat - personally though I would say size 12 is on the upper side. Generally the taller you are, the 'larger' the dress size you can be, without it looking out of proportion.

Pinch the skin and fat just above your pelvic bone, how much is there - that's a good test of how overweight you are - the less the better.
