Do good research.

Decide on the issues you need to explore and the criteria you will use in your evaluation to form an answer.

Historical context might be good as well, so a brief understanding of living standards in the previous 100 and subsequent 100 might be useful.

Look at what the standard was in 1783- use some criteria

i.e in 1783 the standard was- income, healthcare, education, life expectancy, work.
Look at the standard in 1885- the same criteria
What are the measures?
Why did things improve? What difference did it make?

Dont forget to focus on the question so that is.

1 British working class.
2. Standard of living.
3. To what extent

If you want better marks then your methodology analysis and evaluation are as important if not more so than just straight facts because it shows how you understand the question being asked.
