Hi, I will be commencing my postgraduate studies at UKC this September. I have doubts about the accomodation. If I want accomodation outside the University, how do I go about it/ Where do I find people who are looking for roomies?

You can ask accommodation for help, sometimes they put students in contact with each other. Might be harder as you are international.

1. Through local letting agencies.

2. Private student halls.

3. Student spare-room.

Thanks a lot for the links. I'll definitely check them out. The 'student spare room' link is almost what I was looking for. It's fine to look for accommodation away from the University, yea?

Canterbury cant be selected directly, so just use the postcode.

Also ask accommodation about postgrad accomm. Ask if theres anywhere you can advertise i.e students union.

If you dont need to live with students, then just use normal sparerooms as that will have more expensive options and places with adults.

You need to rephrase your last sentence.

Is it ok to look for accommodation away [meaning non uni owned or a certain distance away from] the university.

Non uni owned is fine as long as you understand you are dealing with letting agencies and private LLs. Unis tend to have limited property, so second and third years tend to be in private accomm.

Distance away from uni then thats up to you.

They have a mature students association/ society and s postgraduate research association.

Maybe a way in to take over someone's tenancy or find other postgrads.
