Well why is being a natural driver better?

Just because you learn quicker and then more likely to get cocky and crash (me!)

Honestly, you are better off taking your time and going at your own pace. I am not sure your instructor is being malicious, but if you don't like him/her, change.

I was a shocker when I started. It's a miracle I passed first time, but after a few weeks on the road, I was fine. :p:
I'm not a natural snooker player. I wouldnt get teary if someone told me that, though.
Deal with it mate!

My instructor keeps telling me this, whenever I have a 'bad lesson'. Its really demoralising! Surely he should be encouraging and motivating me, not reminding me that I have natural ability, so can't expect to do well?

Has anyone found their instructors say similar things?

Nah, mine went more down the route of 'So, do you mind if I touch your leg'
or 'Tell me Louise, do you like sex?'

Next time reply with 'Well it would appear that you arnt a natural instructor'

Thats horrifying! :frown:
What did you do?

Thread Starter: Don't worry about it, my Driving Instructor tells me that every week, but she also says that passing your test isn't just about being a natural its more about starying calm and collected and remembering what you have learnt!

I am the most unnatural driver ever, having a lesson (first one in a year) on Wednesday. I must be quite famous now!

The problem is though having driving difficulties does affect your confidence. I actually much prefer driving with my mates than an instructor, but this has given me a lot of bad habbits. My clutch control is now awful (I over rev) but my traffic dealing skills is ok due to my vast amount of experience.

There is no such thing as a natural driver, some people just learn it quicker than others, some people are more cocky than others.

Ignored it. I was on an intensive driving course so it was only for 2 weeks & I wanted to pass my test. I knew if I told my mum, she would have gone nuts (and rightly so) id have had to stop the course and wouldnt have been able to do my test at the end of the 2 weeks, which I wasnt going to risk.

Thankfully nothing bad happended, but looking back I wonder how at 17 (and I was literally only 17 by a month or so) I managed to ignore it. If it were now id have kicked him in the balls and probably have accidently on purpose crashed his car :p:

I dont think I could have put up with it!
My mates Driving Instuctor (for Red) was a complete creep. He used to get my friend to drive to a cafe instead of her house after each lesson and he would insist that she would sit with him and have a cup of coffee.
She always tried to protest but her dad was all chummy with the instructor and she was too scared to tell him.
After a few weeks of this sort of treatment she ended up packing it in, she was getting really intimidated because he tried to invite her to his birthday 35th party or something and he kept emailing her weird things!

What was worse is that he looked exactly like this

Same teeth and everything.

I'd just tell him that I don't appreciate him telling me that and I know he's trying to be nice but to not say it anymore.

But it's just easier to change driving instructors. Apparently my first instructors going to prison!

Maybe they are a rubbish instructor?

Well unfortunately I can't say I'm that lucky to have my driving instructor have the intention of raping me....

but she did have the useful habit of turning my lessons into a way of getting her daily chores done...

'just take a left up here, I just need this bank'

'thats great, just around this corner and stop, I need to drop this off for Mary'

'and just pull up here safely, the kids will be out soon (picking them up from school)'

:p:
No one is a natural driver! You can do better when you practice a lot. Oh well, you're in control of your driver's life and death when you drive the car and he sits next to you. What an idiot (the instructor) to annoy you when you practice. You know what I mean. I'd tell to my instructor, "Hey, dude I'm the pilot, and you're my lousy co-pilot."
I remember many moons ago, a driving instructor I had for all of 3wks! Liked discussing his (shall we say) personal life😨and talking to.me in a very familiar way😨CREEP!Should really have reported the creep!
