The properties of nanoparticles are different to the properties of the same materials in bulk, e.g. nanoparticles are more sensitive to light, heat and magnetism.

Why are you wasting my time? I have my GCSEs in a weeks time and you think it's appropriate to respond to this in such a stupid way?

I think all it means is as follows:

Consider any material, A.
Material A is made of many particles, nanoparticles being one amongst this.
The nanoparticles of material A show different properties compared to the other larger particles which make up material A.
For example, nanoparticles tend to be more sensitive to light, heat, and magnetism than other larger particles within material A.
