Hi guys!!!
I cannot find this anywhere... anything would help.
THANKS
Sounds can be heard by the inner ear when they are transmitted through the bone of the skull. The outer and middle ear play no part in this hearing mechanism. A person suffers hearing loss and it is unclear whether the defect is in the inner ear or the middle ear. Suggest how you could test where the hearing damage has occurred.

Hearing loss due to a problem in the middle ear would be due to failure of conduction of sound through the three bones therein [malleus, incus and stapes] or a problem with the muscle that controls their responsiveness to sound.
Hearing loss due to an inner ear problem would be neurosensory in origin.
You can distinguish between the two using a tuning fork.
Chk out Weber test and Rinne test.
