How many people do u know had chosen UCL over Imperial for STEM courses?

..or Imperial over Oxford/Cambridge for STEM courses.

PS. this only applies to those who got offers from (at least) 2 unis listed above, rejectees aren’t considered as choosing one uni over the other they got rejected from.

I know a lot of people who chose Imperial over Cambridge/Oxford, but everyone who did were those doing Engineering, as they generally think that the Cambs course is more theoretical and Imperial seemed to have better links.

According to the teacher in charge of admissions at my school... "some", who chose Imperial's biochemistry course over Cambridge's. Understandable, really - Imperial's courses seem more specialised
I know someone who picked UCL over Imperial for medicine if you count medicine as STEM.I also know someone who choose UCL over Oxford for biochemistry.

..and by saying that, does that mean that they’ve got the offers from both Cambridge and Imperial, then chose Imperial, instead? Rejects arent supposed to be included in our discussion, since they did not, in principle, make the decision (legitimately).

What about other sciences (or math)? Any ideas?

Biochemistry, very rarely for Maths, because the Cambs Maths course is pengers. Though the ones that did usually went for Imperial Maths because nice

Ah, it seems like Imperial Biochem course is very demanding. I’ve heard couple times about how harsh the competition for place is (iirc, the applicants:redface:ffer ratio for biochem is around 8:1).

Not sure. I know a couple people who want to go to Imperial for civil/mechanical engineering and aren't considering Cambridge, that was also me initially.
Oxford med students can choose to transfer to London after 3 years. They can choose any med school they want. UCL is a lot more popular than Imperial.

This is for STEM  (which doesnt include medicine)

Doesn't UCL have lower entry requirements? Imperial doesn't ever make offers below AAA.

Yep, I can confirm that. Typical offers for Imperial are A*AA and theyre not giving out offers lower than 3A (which is pretty rare to get an applicant a place). UCL courses are far less competitive to get into.

Oxbridge / UCL are the only universities good for everything. LSE and Imperial are specialised but don't cater to all students.

this thread is for STEM courses only, m8. :couchpotato: but imo, if we compare the STEM courses/departments of Imperial and UCL, I’d say Imperial wins by some degree.
