Find purpose. Knowing wtf you wanna do in life is, from my experience, what makes people happy or sad.

A secondary factor* could be finding a purpose that suits you and not, say, your parents. But the mere state of being purposeless is the worst.

A good life is having inner peace, where a person can do what they want to do (not what others pressure them to do, consciously or subconsciously). They need to have a purpose, goal or ambition in life.

To get to this stage, a person needs to practice saying how they feel honestly and openly even if it does inconvenience other people a bit, or feel uncomfortable to the person. They need to choose their friends carefully - be around those who lift them up, not drag them down. They need to remember what’s important to them and keep going until they achieve what they want to achieve.

Definitely. ‘Don’t set yourself on fire to keep others warm’.
