It covers: Section 1 - Components of a Computer System, Section 2 - Networks and Section 3 - Issues/Legislation. Section 1 is about physical components of a computer such as The CPU as well as software a computer usually runs such as the OS and utility software. Section 2 is basically all bout networks and how they're arranged, how they work and how we can defend them. Section 3 is all about the issues created by using technology and the legislation covering laws in the UK such as Data Protection Act 2000.

I think it depends on the exam board but for OCR the first paper is all about computers and computer hardware mainly. So basically it's networks, components of computers and ethical/legal/cultural issues.
