I was told that I couldn't be employed till I was eighteen. I don't know about the pay.

They won't emply anyone under 18 for the same reasons as places like HMV and Zavvi- some of the games are 18 certificate and you have to be 18 or over to sell them.

99% sure its min age of 18 to work there
Im sure they do, unless it changed as there was some young people at mine and one asked their supervisor to let them go ahead when someone got an 18 game just like alcohol in supermarkets.

That being said NEVER NEVER NEVER mention you play games on the Game application form, really I made that mistake and so did some friends who applied for a different store as they want a shop assistant you see not someone who plays games in their spare time

I remember going to mine and asking if the PS2 or XBOX was best for online and was given the answer "do I look like I play games" in a stroppy tone of voice and look.

I was interveiwed by them and I was 17.
You don't even need to have that much computer game experience
I blabbed about the Sims

They bascailly offered me a job and then took it away when they found out I was going to Uni cos they didnt want the hassle of re-advertising in a few months :frown:

just apply if u they are advertising, or even if theyre not
if u get called back and want any info about the interview just ask

wow thats really different to my interveiw
they asked me what kind of consoles i like, what games i played
then asked me to "sell" my favouritte game to them
then they asked me to "sell" a stapler to them haha

along with the boring questions like "why should we hire u", "what do u think is GOOD customer service"

wish i had got that job now they were so nice to me xxx

Prob just my area though I was friends with 1 of the staff members who was into games and all the other staff just referred to him when needing info.

He told me a lot of times they wont even consider you if you say you play games a lot.

Hi I'm thinking about applying for a job with GAME since well I'm kind of into video games but will GAME accept somebody as young as 16 to do a saturday job their? Does anyone know what the pay is like either? Ty.

I used to work there, it's 18 but they will accept 17 year olds as Christmas temps.

The pay was just above minimum wage when I was there - think it was about £5.15 an hour for an 18-21 year old but it probably will have gone up by about 10-20p an hour by now.

I've been after that ****ing company for years now! I'd love to work there one day!
I aplied to gamestation, which is part of game but a bit differant. Their thing is "gamers for gamers" so they actualy do want you to know about games. I talked about games alot on my aplication and that got me an interview. The interveiw for me was the general customer service type questions like explain a time you have had good customer service and why, you know all that kind of thing. Then a few game ones like if you could be any character who would it be, and about your gaming history, like what consols you have and that. They said the pay was about 5.60 or someting there. I didnt get it in the end but tbh I think that was more becasue I'm not very flexible on when i cna work, and the fact I'll be going away to uni soon.

Do you think GAME would accept candidates who are in a wheelchair like myself? No learning difficulties at all, just physically disabled.

If not, why, and what are the potential problems with hiring me? Don't be too harsh hehe :p: as this is something I really want to do.

Well most places are alwasy chatting on about how they accomodate people with disabilities etc, so you might as well just call them up and ask about it.

As for any problems, if its busy its often quite a fast paced job running about from the counter to the back of the store to find stuff and all that kind of thing. Just actualy getting about quicky is the only problem I can imagen, but then you know if you could hadle it.

Just call them and ask I think is te best bet!

Depends but doubt it simply as the stores are so cramped that even someone not in a wheelchair cant get past displays so would be whole lot harder for you.

Especially when stores are busy and people are so cramped they couldnt get past others they probably would target you for a complaint so they can have an easy blame.

hey i worked at HMV at 15 however this was only for work experiance. i asked if they would emply me when i turned 16 for a part time job. they said yes they would but you would only be able to work in the back and stacking shelfs. you need to be 18 to work on the tills as some things have a certificate of 18. hope it helps
what sort of stuff do they look for in terms of qualifications and such?

Ive really wanted a job with GAME, so ive handed in a CV to 2 stores and im going to hand in a 3rd next week.

No luck with jobs so far, but i keep hasaling them about it lol.

Oh and they do employ 16 year olds, i was asked by the guy i gave my cv to how old i was and when i told him i was 16 he said it was fine. The only thing you cant do is sell 18 rated games i think.

Where do you give your cv into? I cant find the right part on the site at the mo, or just into a guy at the store?
And what do you wear to an interview there(in terms of smart, smart casual, etc)?
I am a commerce graduate and I am looking job in gaming industry.
