I have my bio paper 1 aqa gcse this tuesday!!!:ahhhhh::afraid: I just wanted to make sure what the test for fats is.
Is it the emulsion test where you out drops of ethanol and then water and if it is present a white emulsion will appear. Or is it the Sudan 3 test so if present a seperated bright red layer will form.
Which one would AQA accept more or can both be accepted??? THANK YOU!!!

Add ethanol to the solution, then shake thoroughly. Then add water. If the solution turns milky/cloudy, it contains lipid

I checked a couple of Aqa sites (I'm also doing AQA) and most say it is the emulsion test. I did get taught the Sudan 3 test as well but my Biology teacher says that it's better to write about the emulsion test. Hope this helps

also need to know that ethanol is added to disolve the substances in water, since ethanol is a solvent.
