The Student Room Group

Spotify vs Deezer

So basically, I was with Spotify student premium for a year but now it's expired I've switched to Deezer student premium. £4.99 a month, pretty good imo.

Which is your personal favourite (if you've tried the two anyway) - I know I've had Deezer for a few days and had Spotify for a year, but to be honest I prefer Deezer's app layout straight away. Also, I like how Deezer lets you instantly import your Spotify recommendations (I don't know if Spotify does that, as I've never tried to with them).

I would add a poll but I can't see the option for it in the app.

Happy debating over which one is best! 😎
I like both. I was on a website recently which compared all music streaming services and it appeared that deezer came out on top

Yea I like both. I will decide which I like best properly when I've been with Deezer for a while. Also I like how I got the first 30 days for free with Deezer despite choosing the student option. With Spotify I swear it said I'd get 30 days before the charge, but it charged me immediately and they just said it's because I took the student discount however they did refund £2.50 (basically half) of the first payment because they agreed it's somewhat misleading.

I just don't bother with the subscriptions, though I do find that spotify has been misleading

I do, because I get paranoid at the adverts lol. When I've tried the free version of Spotify in the past there's been an advert like after every song. I don't mind because it saves me money compared to buying one off digital albums or CDs throughout the year.

That's why I tend to use spotify on my desktop as I can choose the songs as I please, plus I find there aren't too many adverts

I primarily use my Google Home Mini and phone for the music, but occasionally I use my laptop as well if I'm studying.
Dont know if this is an unpopular opinion or not but Amazon music is pretty good considering you can get amazon prime with it which in the long run makes things a lot cheaper if you use amazon regularly as well

I wouldn't be able to try it, seeing as amazon decided to permanently ban my account for "returning too many items" (it was 4 books which weren't even the books I ordered, that's all!) - I've tried opening new accounts but they just get banned as well unfortunately.

Ufft that’s weird did you contact customer support about your account?? As for your question I’ve tried both spotify and deezer. I prefer deezer as the layout is good and also even though spotify will give you a daily mix of whatever it’s usually filled with things that I don’t even like or listen to whereas deezer has flow and it’s usually filled with really good songs that are things I listen to or new recommendations that I enjoy

Yeah I prefer Deezer's app layout and the Flow feature is good. As for the amazon thing, yes I did contact them and they basically said they won't be unblocking the account and I'm not to contact them again otherwise they will take legal action, apparently. Whatever action that is I don't know and my account is still blocked to this day.

That’s ****ed up. Amazons services are usually really helpful I really don’t know why they’d be that serious about a mistake that they had made themselves

To be fair, even if they unblocked my account today I wouldn't be using the service. It has been blocked for a few years, I've found alternative websites and services to use and I wouldn't want to be giving them money considering the way they treated me. I believe my sister also sent me a gift fot my Birthday one year and because of my ban, they cancelled her order, banned her, but they've unblocked her account

Yeah I i suppose there’s plenty of other services to choose from. That’s so petty though but I suppose it’s their choice if they want to lose customers or not

Considering I was a loyal customer it's their loss. I also rarely made returns, and those books were their own mistake. But yeah, they can kick customers from their service even if the reasons are pathetic like this one. It's tbeir loss!
im a big spotify lover but mainly for podcasts i rarely listen to music these days except in the car
