As most of you are aware, Ramadan is extremely close, it could be on the 16th/17th of May. This thread is just to discuss topics about Ramadan and Islam. It is also created for help and advice and just general daily reminders to maintain high imaan and spirituality throughout the month.
I'm extremely excited for this month, even though I know it will be very difficult especially due to the fact that my exams (and many of yours) have already started or are going to start within this sacred month.
Also, this thread is not just directed towards Muslims, all people from all faiths are welcome to participate in this thread to motivate or simply ask questions.
Allah says about the fasting person. βHe has left his food, Drink and desires for my sake, The fast is for me, So I will reward (The fasting person) for it and the reward of good deeds is multiplied ten timesβ [Sahih Al bukhari 1894]
"Oh you who believe! Fasting is prescribed to you as it was prescribed to those before you, so that you may learn self restraint." Quran 2:183
Ramadan is a time for forgiveness, a time to reflect and ponder upon the past year and the years that are coming. Make use of this time as this could be your last Ramadan. Be strong, be patient and constantly remind yourself of Allah and his mercy. Realise that this is only 1 month that we have to sacrifice and stay away from food and drink. N Many people around the world have to live like this every single day. It is not just food and drink that we stay away from but also anger, backbiting, music, bad habits, ill intentions, grudges etc etc.
SO GUYS, LETS MAKE THE MOST OF RAMADAN 2018 AND INCREASE OUR SPIRITUALITY IN THIS WORLD TO GAIN THE REWARDS AND ETERNAL BLISS IN THE AKIRAH AMEEN AMEEN AMEEN.
Read till the End **this part below has not be written by me, but another poster on this thread.
Just want to say, we all have a purpose on this duniya, we need to recognise this asap and begin to ammend ourselves before its too late. A TSR user I stumbled across few weeks back; Mashallah very successful, smart guy with a well-paid job, lavish lifestyle. Easily a millionaire. I read a few posts where he gave advice to younger people, his profile, posts all still there. Yet when he was 25, he died. All the money, the nice job, lavish lifestyle all has been left behind. 9 Year later to now, The only thing that's gonna help him in the grave is his past deeds and continued charity.
We think our parents, grandparents lived this far, and so will we; but are we blind to young people dying in car crashes, or like this guy who passed away. Yet we forget why Allah sent us to this duniya. But only when we get that cold shiver running through our body, the distant sounds of the world and our last breath leaves the body as the Angel of death takes the soul away from the body; only then will we realise the Akhirah, the unseen, the angels all were so real yet we were so blind. But the only thing that'll help us in our grave is indeed only our deeds and our continued charity. How confidently can you say your family will pray over you after you die; they will pray for 1 year, 2 years, or 5 years but after that they will only pray once on your death anniversary whilst your deeds will stay with you forever.
Ali Banat passed away yesterday, buried today. When Allah asks what did you do with the wealth and fortune I granted you, what did you do when you was in the duniya. Wallahi Ali will reply Oh my lord, I lived my last years hoping to attain your mercy, Ya Allah I created 'The MATW project' - created mosques, cemetaries, home for widows, a school and wells which live on till this Day, Ya Allah. Then one of the 8 gates of Jannah will open, called the Baab-Al Sadakah. The gate for those who were charitable in the way of Allah. And Subhanallah tears will drop like streams off river as he passes through the gate. Subhanallah our beloved Prophet Muhammed PBUH said 'Jannah is a place where no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever percieved'.
Don't you want to be one of the fortunate ones when you're about to depart this world, there comes down angels from heaven with white faces, as if their faces are the sun, bringing with them one of the shrouds of Paradise and some of the perfume of Paradise. They sit with you as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes to you and sits by your head and says, βO pure soul, come out to the forgiveness and pleasure of Allah.β Then your soul comes flowing out like a drop of water flowing from a cup. Then he takes the soul, and place it in that shroud and perfume. Then they ascend with it and they do not pass by any group of angels but the angels ask, βWho is this pure soul?β and they reply, βIt is So and so the son of So and soβ β using the best names by which he was known on earth; imagine if you were a charitable person, they will say it is the charitable person from the duniya we bring today, or if you were obedient to your parents, they will say Oh Angels it is the obedient one from the duniya we bring today. Then they bring it to the lowest heaven, and ask for it to be opened, and it is opened for him. Those who are of high rank in each heaven accompany it until they approach the next heaven, and so it goes until it reaches the seventh heaven. Then Allah, may He be glorified and exalted, says: βRecord the book of My slave in βIlliyoon (the highest heaven) and take him back to the earth, for I created them from it, and I shall return them to it, then I shall take them out from it again.β Then his soul is returned to his body
Use this Ramadan to change yourself, just like Ali Banat used Cancer to change himself. SubhanAllah in return, Allah gave him Ramadan! The month when Hell doors are locked and the Shaytan is caged, whilst Jannah's doors open wide. βWhen the month of Ramadan begins, the gates of the heaven are opened; the gates of Hell-fire are closed, and the devils are chained.β (Sahih Bukhari 1800)
Changing yourself
Take small steps in changing yourself. Don't go 0 to hero rolling your tasbeeh in your right hand in one day, or in a week. Instead gradually take small steps, have intentions in your heart. Intentions are always good.
Examples:
- Build a Well- donate some money in a poor village with no well, wallah imagine the amount of times water will be used across the years; you will be rewarded for this. (or you can dedicate it to your parents- iA they will get the deeds for it)
-Stay charitable- donate a few pounds here and there, the main thing is you are always consistent with your charity, and remember it can be the smallest of the smallest deeds, Allah is pleased by and grants you mercy and Jannah.
- Obedient to parents- Respect and love your parents. Even if they can be old-school, Alhamdulillah you have parents but no one is asking those who parents have passed away. In private, pray Allah reserves them the highest ranks in Jannah, pray for their forgiveness etc.
Control yourself- Keep calm and collective; even if your in the right and someone else is in the wrong. Prophet Muhammed PBUH said βI guarantee a house in Jannah (Paradise) for one who gives up arguing, even if he is in the right; and I guarantee a house in the middle of Jannah for one who abandons lying even when joking / for the sake of fun; and I guarantee a house in the highest part of Jannah for one who has good manners.β [Prophet Muhammad (Ψ΅ΩΩ Ψ§ΩΩΩ ΨΉΩΩΩ ΩΨ³ΩΩ ) β reported by Imam Abu Dawud]
Sponsor a hafiz/elderly(adopt a gran- pennyappeal): Remember the money you give, as long as they continue to benefit from your donation in their lives. You will be rewarded. Ie. adopting a hafiz- each time he/she reads the Quran- you are rewarded too.
Adopt an Orphan- It's becoming more common to adopt children in this day and age. What's better than follow the sunnah of the Prophet and adopt a Orphan for the sake of Allah. As the child grows up and becomes a decent person, you will be rewarded for their good actions. And since your intention is to please Allah, iA you will be rewarded. Prophet Muhammed PBUH said βThe one who cares for an orphan and myself will be together in Paradise like this,β and he held both his middle and index fingers close together to illustrate.
Contribute building a mosque/donate a prayer mat/gift a Quran to someone- again each time it benefits someone even if its many years since you have passed away, you will be rewarded.
Become a charity volunteer (during free time/weekends)/set up a charity?- We prepare ourselves for the duniya, now it's time to prepare for the Akhirah. Get working.
I leave you with this short message.
Start preparing for it now, before people start preparing over you and washing your body before your visit with Allah in the here-after. I heard a lecture where the man said 'We always say, I'm gonna become a better, practising muslim in Ramadan, or when my exams are done, or here or there.. But if your not willing to do it now, who trusts you to do it later' So always be mindful of this, even if it's something basic- start now and slowly work yourself up. Just like when you go to the gym, you don't pick up 20kg at once, you work on the smaller weights until you're ready to go up.
Alhamdulilah i only have 2 exams after Ramadan. Hoping this year it would be a good one. Iβve never fasted a full ramadan due to health reasons but iβm hoping this ramadan i get close or complete it all. Inshallah. May we all have a blessed ramadan inshallah
aww inshAllah you get to fast the whole ramadan. I pray that you're health improves too <3
