Gap year/Internship before Uni

I plan on going to Uni after finishing IB, but I'm not sure if I should, I definitely want sometime to rest and actually use what I learned in practice and use the time to find a career/interest that I want to study and work with, but I'm not sure how It'll affect my application towards Universities I want to apply to.

I'm currently struggling with 1st year of IB, doing HL Physics, History, and Chemistry. I don't think it's something I want to continue studying, and I'm thinking I might go into computer design instead. Should I take a gap year or maybe half a year to do an internship and rest, or would it not benefit me too much compared to doing one after Uni? If I were to have a gap year I would've liked to do an internship in Asia, most likely Korea/Japan, is it a good place to go for an internship in computer design?
