Ethnic differences: cultural deprivation ( language family structure), material deprivation and racism in the wider society were my main paragraphs. With reference to school factors like institutional racism, anti school subculture. But focused on external factors through out.

The 25 marker on gender roles was one of the nicest 25 makers I could've been blessed with.

I didn't really know what to write for the young people question, but apparently you were supposed to write about being a good student, helping/caring for the elderly etc. I wrote about how they are perceived badly when they hang around in gangs and the fact they almost always get blamed for a lot of minor crimes that occur.

I would say that the first point is correct in some societies, although in practically all societies young people don't really 'make' families, they are just getting into relationships and being part of their family.

I wrote 10 pages overall (3 and 1/2 for the 25 marker). For the old age question I said that in tribal societies they had a high status because of their knowledge of the land and people, but in industrial societies they were less looked highly at because of the dependency ratio and the strain on healthcare systems etc.

I used Jenks' idea that 'childhood is transgressive' and Aries' idea that children are in fact 'mini-adults'.

I said that childhood is not socially constructed as they key elements of it (socialisation and protection) haven't ever changed, but that with all the new media and technology some of the outside lines had become blurred from society to society.
