After changing the maintenance loan I requested for my second year the website tells me the maximum I can apply for is about £3200 total. I'm living at home, so £1000 per term would be manageable ... But in my first year I was receiving £7000 total which was almost too much.

However £3200 total is way too low, I am paying my parents some rent and need money for the commute. Why is the maximum I can get £3200? Everywhere I check online says the maximum for a student living at home would be £7000?

Hi Wrackoon

We can assess you for a higher amount of loan if you ask to be income assessed and provide your household income.

If you are under 25 years old, can I ask if your parents have provided their financial information recently?

Thanks Rona

They provided the financial form for my first year but didn't fill one out this year. If there is still time to get a household income form and send it (whilst still being able to get the money in time for september) then I'd like to do it

Hi Wrackoon,

We need your parents to provide their household income each academic year as your entitlement is based on a different tax year.

You have nine months from the start of the academic year to ask to be income assesed.

If you want to change your application to be assessed to include your household income, here is a link to the forms that you need,

Thanks Rona, so just to clarify,

Changing my current application to be assessed off my parent's income, I need to print off both

http://media.slc.co.uk/sfe/1819/ft/s...orm_1819_o.pdf

Of these forms and mail them together to the address given? Is that all that needs to be done?

Hi Wrackoon,

Yes that is all that is required. Once received currently the estimated timescale to review will be nine working days.

Once reassessed your online account will be updated and we will send you a new Notification of Entitlement letter, based on your household income.

Thanks Rona
