I'd go for manchester. CASS business school is good but only really for its MBA. Manchester has a good department and is a good uni overall. Birmingham is average.
Manchester is a very well respected university. At the moment it's rated the 30th best in the WORLD Birmingham is 65th. So, in terms of respect Manchester wins everytime (if you agree with league tables). The city of Manchester is amazing, it's called Britains second city (after London). I would also recommend Manchester.

thanks for your suggestion. But When I checked the TIMES good university guide, I saw that manchester ranks 26 and birmingham ranks 23. So I really confused about the table!

Financial job? Cass, especially if you are looking to work in London.

The world rankings are a joke, honestly.

I agree. If the question was LSE or Manchester, you would answer LSE every time. However, in the World Rankings, LSE is way down. They are severely flawed. IMO, if you really want other people's opinions (you shouldn't really, go where you like best), go with the consensus which, at present, is Manchester.

Well, the campus, not so great, it's a very dull uni lol. I'd go Manchester because it's a better atmosphere and is better than Birmingham.

That's why I sai, if you agree with league tables. Personally I think the Uk one's are too. There's hardly anything between the top 30 after there top 5/10. I think it's an individual choice and people should go to open days. No good going to a 'respected' uni if you don't end up doing your best/are unhappy. If you can't make it to the unis your best talking to the students I guess.

As for 'respected unis' whether you agree with tables or not, the higher up you are on them, the more respected the general public generally perceives them, unfortunately that's just the way it is. it looks good on the CV.

I still recommend Manchester...although I'm bias and go to uni here lol

I'm just going by what they said on the commonwealth games and my open days, that it's considered the '2nd capital'/'the capital of the North' (I don't mean size/population)...don't reckon it'll be Birmingham...but again I'm bias lol  Manchester rocks!

It's up to you.

If I wanted the best prospects from a degree I'd go to Cass

but if I wanted a good degree and a good time at a nicer university, with slightly lower job prospects I'd go Manchester.

I'd pick Manchester and then Birmingham as my insurance if the grades were the same for Cass and Manc.

Don't want to be contentious but I'v always been taught that B'ham is the second city, but I'm probably biased too.
Reply 16
Oh actually, I think Manchester is now the 2nd city, but only in the last year or 2.

Rankings in general are a joke and are often taken TOO seriously.

also, rankings are unfair on courses at Cass as they have a much better rep than most of the other courses at City.

CASS has a very good reputation in the City so if you're aiming to go into the corporate world I'm sure it's a good place to study.
