MHAW - Learning about postpartum psychosis

This week is World Mental Health Awareness Week 2018.

Mosaic have published a really interesting article on postpartum psychosis - a condition which affects 1 or 2 in every 1000 women, and around 25% of women who have bipolar disorder.

It is written by Catherine Cleaver, a medical doctor, researcher and author, and focuses on her own experiences whilst she suffered from postpartum psychosis. She considers her experience in a specialist mother and baby unit and compares with the experience of a woman who spent her time recovering in a general adult psychiatric ward.

This article highlights the link between midwifery and mental health support, and would be a useful addition to personal statements or for reflective accounts for CPD.
