Define Europe.
How about... You know... The actual continent of Europe, and the regions owned by the countries within?

That is but one definition. Doesn't mean there can't be more.

Care to show me another definition of Europe that is both relevant and widely accepted?

who cares anyway - it's just entertainment; there's always a need to politicise the most trivial of things on TSR

There's the EU, for starters.

And, more relevantly, there's the EBU (European Broadcast Union), which is what Eurovision is actually based on. It has 107 members and associate members in 76 countries.

And then, we could always remember that we're talking about Eurovision and who really gives a flying ****, because it's a ridiculous pantomime of *****y music?

Why do some people feel the need to try and take a giant crap on other peoples' fun?

Instead of trying to make the world a more boring and homogenous place, perhaps you should just try sampling some actual culture? You never know, you might just like it.

Neither of those examples are definitions of Europe. The EU is what is says on the tin, a European Union, a union within Europe.

The EBU follows the same sort of idea, only it is a union that was established in Europe. Also, if you knew about the EBU's history, it actually stems from international unions. Can't exactly call that Europe...

I'm not saying this means anything, but the idea that you can define Europe as anything other than the European continent is ridiculous.

The original point of Eurovision wasn’t really anything to do with a song contest- it was to see if it were technically possible to broadcast to several countries live simultaneously

Israel has won before, people didn't really give a **** then. Maybe it was overshadowed by the fact that the singer was transgender.

Eurovision is more a popularity contest, the slavic states voting for each other and the Scandinavians states voting for each other. The music is terrible, the EU hates the UK, even more now because of brexit.

Some people just seem to want any chance they can get to be negative, it's really sad. Israel has been in the contest for longer than some of the "real" European countries have even been countries, so it's pretty ridiculous to say they ought to be booted out now.

Eurovision is almost entirely political when it comes to voting. Example? The UK got absolutely destroyed this year at Eurovision, despite their performance being rather decent. If anyone thinks that their low position had nothing to do with brexit, then you're naive.

It didn't.

We were getting nul points way before Brexit. We came last in '03, '08 and '10, getting 0 points in '03. Last year we came 15th, despite it being the one straight after the Brexit vote. So to correlate it directly with that is actually naivety on your part.
