Biology Question on Photosynthesis

Hi everyone,

I was doing an online quiz and one question went as follows;

"In a dark room with plenty of CO2, what results would you expect to see in the light independent stage of photosynthesis"

The answer was Ribulose Biphosphate levels would increase and Glycerate-3-Phosphate levels would decrease.

I don't understand how this answer could possibly be right. Can anyone explain it to me?

Much thanks!

If the room is dark the light dependent stage won't happen
for the light independent stage to happen, you need ATP and reduced NADP, which are made during the light dependent stage
so without light, you won't get the light independent stage happening either

the light independent stage is basically just converting RuBP to GP and TP so if it's not happening, RuBP will build up and GP won't get made
