Trying to finish my student finance application and I was gathering everything I needed so I could input it all at once and all I needed was my national insurance number. I still had to set up a bank account so I didn't sit down to actually do it until today. Asked mum for my National Insurance Number and she said that she had it safe and she'd give it to me when I needed it and now she's saying that she doesn't know where it is!
We moved house and she's saying it's "in a box or drawer somewhere from the move". I checked the website and it takes up to 10 weekdays to get a my number posted to me, they won't give me anything over the phone, and the student finance deadline is 8 days!
Do I have to have the number or is there any way to work around it? If I miss the deadline and have to get a new card and apply, will I still be able to apply by the start of the next academic year?

The 'deadline' for student finance is not a 'apply by this time or you get no finance', it is a guideline for which they say that if you apply by then they make sure to have everything ready on time for when university starts, you can apply for student finance any time up to 9 months after university starts. You can afford to wait 10 days your application just may be approved a little later.
