History of art students, please help!

Hi!
I am going to study history of art. I have never studied hoa before, so I have a few questions about the course. Could anyone help me, please? Question #1 How much does the AP focus on specific dates in general? I am reading Gobrich and was wondering if students are expected to memorize every western artist/artwork that is mentioned, or are they expected to focus more on the big trends. How much are you actually expected to know? What needs to be remembered? (facts, dates, etc?)I read that it is enough to know which century a work of art comes from, and that you don't have to know exact dates. I am not sure if it true. Are American undergraduate history of art programs very different from British ones?
Thanks!!!!

History of Art at Cambridge is a very small course, so it’s not very likely you’ll meet someone who’s on the course in this forum. (not many current students are here, anyway).
Probably your better option is posting a question here.
https://www.applytocambridge.com

This is the alternative prospectus by their Student Union and there’s some information on the courses/colleges, told by real students, and there’s a section on each course’s page where you can ask any question to current students.

Just a little note, though.
It’s just before the exam weeks is starting, so you may not get reply very soon, but I’m sure they will eventually.

Edit:
Not sure if there’s someone who can also answer the question about the difference between British/America HoA courses though.......

Are you asking about the use of dates in the AP or in the Cambridge HoA course?

Here's some more detailed info about the HoA course
https://www.hoart.cam.ac.uk/Admissions/undergraduate-admissions/what-will-i-study/
Part I
https://www.hoart.cam.ac.uk/Admissions/undergraduatecourses/part1courseoutline
Part II
https://www.hoart.cam.ac.uk/Admissions/undergraduatecourses/part2outline

I have precisely zero knowledge of HoA at Cambridge but I suspect it's much more focussed on analysing traditions and influences than very accurate dates.

They have a course video here:

And here's the HoA page on the alternative prospectus:

As vincrows mentioned you can contact a current student via the question box at the bottom.
Thank you both so much. I will post my question there.
