Is it better to do a themes question or character question and why?

I find it easier to do themes,but that's just me

Their both good for exploring - it depends what your strengths are.
In the case of inspector calls themes are probably better as Priestley explores the theme of responsibility across all of the characters. Its how the characters respond which makes them unique. The generation difference is also important there.
