hello.. :P

i am going to be starting the IB programme this september and One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovish is also one of the literary works we're going to be studying... from one of ur threads i have deduced that u got a 7 in HL english and that is great!! i would appreciate it if u also gave me a bit of advice and info about english IB and how u got a great mark in it!! ..

maybe you could use the prisoner formation as an example of imagery.. you can talk about the dehumanisation and loss of identity of the characters. But it's true that imagery isn't one of solzhenitsyns main devices =P
Hmmm......welll......there are LOADS of imagery in one day. Starting with cold imagery from the top of my head "the frost lay two fingers thick", and how it's all cold outside. Then there's all kinds of animals imagery, how each character is likened to an animal (fetuikov the jackal, prisoners as sheep, guards as wolves (volkovoi)). Images of scarcity , etc etc etc....
