I met someone who is apparently going there to study medicine, I wondered what sort of reputation the place had, tbh I don't really know anything about it.
It has an excellent reputation...I believe it's normally ranked amongst the top 20 universities in the world.

Yes, U of Tokyo is an amazing school. It's arguably the best university in Asia.

Among Japanese people, Tokyo university has a bit of a godlike-status - a lot like how Oxbridge are idealised as the ultimate goal in this country by many people. The very best in Japan aim to get into Tokyo university; schools advertise themselves by how many they get into Tokyo Uni per year, etc. It is particularly prestigious for medicine - they take ~100 people per year out of the whole country, and people say that those who get into medicine at Tokyo uni are aliens. :p: (In Japan, all university admissions are dependent on the mark you get into the entrance exam; one mark can make or break your application so you get some seriously scary people there!). Internationally, it is (give or take) the top uni in Asia and consistently in the top 20 in the world.

Hello,

Im offered a place in Tokyo Uni as well in Oxford, master´s level in environmental management.
Im more leaning towards Oxford´s one year Msc Env.Change and management rather than Tokyo´s Master Program in Sustainability Science.

I hope, Im making right desicion.

Am I?

lucky you tabum, tokyo university is my dream college and i have absolutely no idea how am i suppost to get there can someone help me please, or give me advice?
I know this is an old thread but I'm hoping to apply to Uni of Tokyo for my final year elective although it's going to set me back about £3000 for 2-3 months study there, it's worth every penny I reckon and may well help add to my CV for when applying to Oxbridge for either an MBA or MPhil Management.
