I am 51 years old and have retired from my career in the British Army and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. I am now back in the UK and looking to train as a teacher, essentially in Maths but possibly something else as well.
I shall be taking full time courses through the Open University and am torn between the following routes:
Q31 - BSc Mathematics
Q46 - Mathematics and Its Learning
Q46 - Mathematics and Physics.
My goal is to teach GCSE Maths (and possible Physics) so perhaps the native Mathematics degree would include too much Maths that I would then never use.
I am interested in some of the Physics courses but the Mathematics and Its Learning degree seems quite specific for what I want to do with modules such as Mathematical Thinking In Schools.
Is anyone taking these courses ? All and any input would be greatly appreciated.
