I know that there are already threads on this genre, but I noticed that the same songs tend to get posted. '80s (and House) are my favourite genres, and there are so many different 'sub-genres' that are worth listening to:
First, the political ones:

Not an 80's song, but a cover from the 80s.

'80s duets (but not the 'Endless Love' kind. Lovely as they are, they are overplayed, easily accessible and boring. Something more interesting, edgy or funny is called for).https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sYFRFyvhGRY

Birmingham was big during the New Romantics era, and this guy was a founding member of Duran Duran (I love reading the comments):

That is indeed a classic - no arguing with that. Love the Clash. Great choice.

Another New Romantic Birmingham group. First vinyl my mum ever bought (she was 11). Just been reading the comments and Paul Caplin, the key person in Animal Magnet said that the song is about "greed in the modern world". Did not know that but it could easily go into the 'Politics' sub- genre of the '80s:

The King of New Romantics (RIP Steve Strange) (I don't think that this song - a cover - was released in the '80s, but the band is such an iconic '80s New Romantics one that I'm including it here. The original of this is also worth a listen):https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qhlZmO3Scvg
