My views? Shut up.
That's not racism, it's pride.
You could say we do the same to, say, the French.

And when I was in Wales, I heard almost no Welsh.

Your second point is definitely true. Me any my English family used to live in Wales, but one of the reasons that we moved was because Welsh people would speak Welsh instead of English when my mum was nearby.

they're just jealous

 Imagine that, Welsh people being proud of being welsh so they speak their own language. Sort of like the Spaniards in Spain or the Germans in Germany. Who knew it was racist to speak your own language when there are non-speakers of it around. **** me, I guess that makes nearly all English speakers racist.

For the first point, it's called national rivalry and is a sign of pride in their country's team, especially as until recently the Welsh rugby team, for example, weren't the best.

lol.

Tbh we do exactly the same with sports whenever we beat the french or the australians. Its just harmless country rivalry.

One of my mates is at uni in wales and he says he gets a lot of light hearted stick for being english, but he dishes it right back at them.

As far as the 'speaking welsh around english people' goes, Ive been to wales a fair few times and never seen or heard of that happening.

You gotta' admit though, Bush... the Welsh accent kicks ass. We've all heard that Teacher's accent on Skins... wowza.

people speak welsh?
when we beat the french we don't as a country go into a mad celebrations "proud to be welsh" "we are wales"
they see beating England as some kind of war declaration.
how's it going laodmalz?I'm banned from football
Liverpool on a great run at the moment, catching up.
Well I think some Welsh are racist again the English. My friends often comment on how they 'hate the english' and such.

Although the examples you give are crap. :p:

What about all the sheep jokes from the English?

Being serious, I'm not sure wether 'racism' is the right word. Certainly there is a degree of nationalistic fervour - which IMO is less pronounced than, say, the relationship between the Scots and the English - but I wouldn't call it racism.

Well I think the point he is rather ineloquently trying to make is that these hypothetical Welshmen, lets call them Daffyd, Gareth and Mohammad, usually speak English. When they are at home they speak English, when they are at the pub on their own they speak English. However, when an Englishman on his weekend away comes into their Pub and orders 'a pint of Bombadier, kind Sir', Daffyd Gareth and Mohammad start speaking in Welsh to exclude the Englishman.

I have heard of this before, but I don't know if there is any truth in it.

As an Englishman, I was quite happy when Wales beat England at rugby. It's a rubbish sport that I couldn't care less about, and it is nice to see a smaller country doing well and upsetting the big guns. However if Wales beat us at football, I would probably break down and cry. Pride and patriotism are different things to different people - we probably wouldn't all rally around the English dragon boating team to the sam extent.

Kudos. I've never seen a warning level so high. You got yourself permanently banned twice in one go.

I'd like to point out that the people that would speak Welsh around my mother, had been speaking English until they realized that she was around. I'm not saying that such behaviour is racist, but it is definitely rude.
so we cant even speak our own language in our own country anymore.

The welsh hate the english because you inveaded and made everybody speak english - put a dunce hat on children that couldnt speak english etc. You invaded us. So when a welsh person sees an english person in their country they speak welsh to show they are proud to be welsh and will not change for an arrogant english person who thinks he/she is better than us.

Do you think media coverage is so biased in this country. I know there are far more english than scots/welsh so there should be more about england on the news - fair enough. But when it comes down to highlights of matches all they talk about is england and how unlucky england were and how they almost did this- when scotland were miles better and nothing was said.

Grow up

They can be, living in Wales during highschool you do see it occasionally. The types who take pride a tad too far and saying how its such "a privalige to be born Welsh" etc, arrgghhh, get over yourselves. But thankfully the majority of people aren't like that, its mainly the "really" welsh people.
