No that's the value of x and y not the actual lengths and widths

What do you mean how???!?!?!???!!
According to what you just said, 1cm is apparently 2.5cm.....
2cm : 5m
2cm : 500cm
1cm : 250cm
1:250
.....

Crap
i didnt no its in metres:frown:

Is this how you are meant to get the circle question:
The angle was 28 i think and that means the other point on the circumference was 28.
Then the angles in a semi circle are 90 degrees
so we use SOHCAHTOA to get the diameter. And its like 13.7 or something like that
then u do pi x 13.7^2, then u get like 145 or something along those lines

Chords in the same segment so to find length BD : 6.4 / sin(28)
Then divide BD by 2, bracket it off and square it then times it by pi to get the area which was 145.96 (5s.f.) if you used exact values like you were supposed to.

It was given in the form 2cm : 5m. The answer is clearly 1cm : 2.5m.

It's being reviewed right now for moderation I have no idea why.
I don't know why you need a variable for population it's just
(0.6x0.2) + (0.4 x W) = 0.216
0.12 + 0.4W = 0.216
0.4W = 0.216 - 0.12
0.4W = 0.096
W = 0.24
= 24%

But it asked for the percentage of the population that arent male but are left handed, so if the percentage of the population who is left handed is 21.6%, how can 24% be correct as it is more than all the left handed percentage?

It's two marks out of a hundred. Don't **** yourself over it.
But it didn't ask for the percentage out of the whole population - it asked for the percentage of out of the women who were left handed.

That's what I was thinking.

Was it a 400g:1kg question? What is the value of n: ?

This is OCR higher, I'm not sure what question you're talking about?
oh right ok thought it was a mixture of both.
And about the 1:n question the answer is 250. Look at last year's paper 6, there was a similar question, question 2aii, look at the mark scheme. Paper :

No it wasn't. It was the percentage of the population who weren't male, but were left handed.
Right ok well my photographic memory is wrong then
(it's 24%)

I don't remember them giving the measurement next to the answer section. If they did, then my bad.

Why you stressing about the one marker?
Original post by TrashMouse1
it was 2.5 not 250
from 2:5 to 1:2.5

it was 2CM to 5M
therefor convert to centimeters: 2:500
1:25

Dont worry, i made the same mistake but noticed when i checked back through
