MattBroon was actually spying on other parties, the member concerned was a member of multiple parties but did not leak any information (as dayne has said). The member will be dealt with, but if you remember the previous occasion then you will also remember that it was an internal party matter, so STFU.
Dont defend whats happened Dipak as I dont defend what Matt did. And if you remember we took severe action against Matt swiftly in the wake of socialist outrage

Alisdair, can we take your last post to be your official statement

... He wasn't defending. He was merely pointing out how it differs to the mattbroon situation...

Let's not bother with a massive *****fest about this. We've said what action we're taking, and we'll let the House now the outcome in due course.

Ok, I just interests me to think what would have been the reaction from your party if this was the Tories who were underfire here

I'm not, but the situations are different, and each case has to be considered individually.

And if you remember we took severe action against Matt swiftly in the wake of socialist outrage
Indeed, and we thank you for it. We're having an internal party vote to see what happens, as the other parties have lost nothing (ie no info's been leaked) i'm tempted to go lightly on her.

You're tempted? - I assume that means your the most senior member of the party then - and 'her' rules out who I thought it was

Obviously you know what my personal stance and that I urge you to take strong action as I would expect members of other parties to expect of my party if this had been the case with a conservative.

I appreciate that yourself and the Socialists are being open to the House in telling that action will be taken against the member concerned but what I think needs to be remembered is that when we had a member with dupes we did deal with him severely - yes you have stated your gratitude for that but if you can understand we dont want to be seen as the only party who takes action on dupe accounts

Oh stop whinging and trying to make an issue out of this. We're dealing with it. So shut your trap and get on with more important things until we let you know what's happened, eh?

It is not an issue, as such, and it really has nothing to do with any political discourse. It is a matter between party leaders, not between party politics. Matthew_Lowson, I may politely tell you to 'STFU' unless you are even aware what the situation is, and in the case of you do knowing, then it's got nothing to do with you, so I would tell you to politely 'STFU' in that case too.

As everyone else is finding this as inane as i am, i'll shut up about it now. The only reason i post here now is to tell you that noone is more 'senior' in the party, everyone is an equal. As a party we are currently discussing it and will probably have a vote on it.

I'll say it one last time, this incident is not comparable to the mattbroon situation and as such no comparisons can reasonably be drawn. Anyway, we'll probably inform the house of what we're doing about it when we've decided, so yeah. Contain your excitement if you can.

I wouldnt call that polite, and I'm only making the observation that we were harangued by the socialists who demanded us be open with them

Free nations are peaceful nations. Free nations don't attack each other. Free nations don't develop weapons of mass destruction.
President
I found that interesting. Bush seems to thing that the US and UK aren't free nations then.

My question is this, would you agree with me when I say that nuclear arms are immoral because they kill innocent civilians? They serve no use as a deterrent because any nation to use them would have the best part of the world turn against them. If you agree with these statements would you like to see the UK turn to become a free nation as Mr. Bush describes it, without nuclear arms?

Has your party ever made a move to legislate in this direction, and if so is there any chance you could link me to this?

To be honest, I can't remember. We have certainly discussed it, whether we've actually produced a bill I'm not sure, I haven't been around for most of this year. The first page of Hansard will have all of the bills submitted, including all of ours.
