Losing a friend to suicide?

I recently lost one of my closest and oldest friends to suicide and with my exams two weeks away I’m really struggling to cope despite supportive family and friends. Does anyone have any tips or has been through something similar and can show me how to get out the other side? (I am already on medication for anxiety/depression so more medication isn’t really an option)

So sorry to hear.

1. Try and use the exams as a distraction or do well for them. You need to put yourself in an exam mode bubble for 6 weeks and then you can grieve 24/7 after. Am sure they would want you to do well.

2. Put in a claim for special consideration. It can get you 3% added to your score. Nothing to lose.

Theres plenty of guidance and support information there for people you can speak to. Maybe share with friends or parents, but you can still talk to Childline 08001111 or Papyrus

Really sorry to hear you've lost someone so close to you in such a traumatic way. I've been through similar things, I've lost two friends (one of my best friends in July 2015 and a friend in December of last year) to suicide. It's heartbreaking. If you need to talk or vent or just want someone who has even a tiny idea of what you might be feeling, feel free to PM me. Stay safe.

I believe with circumstances like yours, you can apply to your exam boards with extenuating circumstances or post-pone your exams until a point when you're in a better state of mind.

I'd suggest genuinely considering doing your exams at a later date. Grieve for your friend now and get your head straight, otherwise you'll have your friend on your mind and may not perform as well.
