Positive Function

I thought that when you divide by something, the inequality changes direction so why does root 2 keep the sign
I know that - root 2 changes the inequality but why not root 2

Not sure at what point you need to divide by root 2.... but obviously 2>0\sqrt{2} > 0 so you can divide by it without changing the sign of the inequality.

Does the inequality only change direction if you multiply or divide by a negative number
