tonsillitis during GCSEs

ive had recurring tonsillitis since january and had it 6 times already this year.... ive recently developed tonsillitis again during my GCSEs! Im on antibiotics and i am going to get my tonsils out after exams but what can i do now! Ive applied for special considerations but this is really affecting me since it is half term and i should be studying for the next two weeks of my exams which involve the hardest papers. My next set of exams start on Monday and ive been sleeping for the past 2 days due to my illness.

Need advice on what to do please!

You can’t really do anything and you’ll most likely get rejected for the special needs because those are for people with more mental disabilities which actually hinders them in exams

its not "the special needs" its special considerations where you apply for extra marks if something has affected your performance throughout your exams

Yeah I know what you mean but you won’t be granted it for having tonsillitis. Many people taking their GCSEs feel ill but they can’t give everyone extra marks

I'm going through the exact same thing. Can you pls give an update, if they gave you any special consideration.

Hi! im so sorry you’re going through this i know how difficult it is. in the end i didn’t get an extenuating circumstances. im not sure where one can apply for them but it is likely through the school, you’ll likely get a 1-3% increase if granted. the stress makes the tonsillitis a whole lot worse, so try to remember stressing won’t help (ik difficult during exam period). i ended up getting my tonsils removed that summer because it was reoccurring - i would say it’s the best thing ive ever done, so perhaps look into that. i’m sorry i couldn’t be more help - good luck on your exams im sure you’re going to smash them, and get on antibiotics asap!
