edexcel gcse higher maths tips and predicted grade boundaries?

Any advice on how to go from a 6 to a 7, and how much higher would the grade boundaries go in order to get a 7(maximum)?

My biggest advice would be to just do as many practice questions as possible - is the best way to get better! And it's often more helpful to try and do questions on mixed topics rather than just concentrating on one, as then you get used to having to think about the best method to use for each question.
Past exam papers are the most effective, but I've also found Seneca Learning (https://app.senecalearning.com/classroom/course/f5f63e40-237d-11e8-9552-554f7ccff2d1/section/2a374b20-2858-11e8-beff-d7e30bb84ee2) really helpful in raising my grade, and sometimes use Quizlet. Also if there are specific topics you find super hard or confusing, it can be good to watch youtube videos on it as they often explain it more clearly. Eg Mr Heggarty is great!

I have attached the predicted grade boundaries which are based on an average of the June and November sittings. Also I would advise you to try the following predicted papers for paper 2 on the 7th of June.

Here they are:

Predicted paper 2: https://www.mathsgenie.co.uk/resources/pred20182h.pdf
Answers: https://www.mathsgenie.co.uk/resources/pred20182hans.pdf

Also try this online one which marks as you go along: https://www.onmaths.com/mock_exams/edexcel-2018-paper-2-higher-prediction/

And last of all here are the grade boundaries:

Hope this helps, follow me for more resources!:smile:

Good luck

Yeah, they are lower than the June 2017 ones though but higher than the november. Only by around 5 marks
What do you think you got on paper 1?

I think I got 30 (fingers crossed) so I realistically need to get either 45 on papers 2 and 3 or 50 and 40 to get 120 marks which give or take should scrape me a 7

After looking at a few unofficial mark schemes i think i got about 45, but i made loads of silly mistakes!!I think for a 7 it would probably not be higher than 135 marks

Yeah, If you got 45 then you probably will get a strong 7 if you get like 40 marks on paper 2 and 3

I’m trying to get around an extra 90-100 marks on the next 2 papers to make sure, but it’s gonna be hard!! How did you find the first paper

tbh it was wayyy easier than any of the other paper 1 mocks I did in the past, but I still failed to attempt some questions like Q2 and that one about Juan and his race.

Yeah same, i didn’t even get to 18 and 19 and I realised that there was a question 20 as they collected in the exam papers!

The last question was in a different language so there was no point me even flicking the page
