Help solving and factorising equations

15t^2 + 2t - 1 = 0

24r^2 + 19r + 2 = 0
Original post by Milli Mango
15t^2 + 2t - 1 = 0

24r^2 + 19r + 2 = 0

The first one becomes (3t+1)(5t-1) = 0.
The second one becomes (8r+1)(3r+2) = 0.

For help on how to get these factorisations, see e.g. https://youtube.com/watch?v=vt491JmFgP0

15X-1 =-15
So choose two numbers which multiply to make -15 and add to make 2. Use these to rewrite the 2t, then can you factorise?
