0.4=8/y times both sides by y and you'll get 0.4y=8 (this should always be your first step when having something divided by something [multiply both sides by the denominator] as it makes it much easier to deal with) and then you mean diving both sides by 8? in which you'll get 0.4y/8=8/8 0.05y=1 this is no use to us, as with algebra, you'll always, ideally want to get it in the form "y=" although, fromm here, you could times both sides by 20 x20: 1y=20 which gives the same answer
