Are hairbands on Men Ridiculous?

I have very thick hair. It's not quite afro territory as it's not frizzy. The problem is that i hate having short hair as it makes me look very young. Still, once my hair starts to grow it seems to just be one massive piece of hair on my head, which just grows outwards and looks very big and ridiculous, especially as i like to brush it back rather than over my forehead.

The only way i've found to have longish hair without it looking as if i'm straight out of the 70s is to wear a head/hairband to hold my hair back and close to my head so it doesn't look huge. I think it looks quite cool but i'm concerned many may see the concept of men wearing headbands ridiculous. What do people think?

My hair is naturally quite dry, even though i condition it daily, which is probably a reason for why it doesn't fall too well, i also don't wear any products in my hair, maybe i should.

This is a truly stupid topic i know but i hope someone can offer some advice.

I personally think men look silly with hairbands, but that's just me.

Meh, without seeing a photo its hard to tell, but as a general rule I'd have to say I don't think they look great on guys..

You mean like an Alice Band? I have seen footballers wear them (David Beckham for one) so I guess men with longer hair do wear them.
Is David Beckham really a wonderful example?
xD

Personally - yes, I think it would look a tad silly. Although a photo would possibly help.
They look silly.

Dont mind so much tied back hair, but head bands arnt a great look.

Yes, though to be honest blokes spending time worrying about their hair's pretty ridiculous to.

Depends on the person I suppose. It works on South American footballers most of the time.

I suppose David Beckham/Ronnie O'Sullivan are good examples, but people seem to universally think headbands are a bad idea so i suppose i'll have to try something else. And sorry, Josh145, i just happen to care about my appearance.

Many thanks.

looks alrite on some guys but ....why u worried about what other people think anyway.who cares lol
In a word, yes.

However wear what you want, if you are comfortable with it then go for it.
If you think it looks cool then go for it. If it is what i think youre talking about then i think they look good on guys. Theres nothing better than a bit of individuality

I think they look alright. Fernando Torres wears one  Hehe, actually, quite a lot of foreign footballers wear them so it must be the norm abroad!

I have very thick hair too. You just need to get yourself down to a decent stylist and get your haircut. If you have very thick hair you need the some of the layers cut out.

You can have long thick hair without it being a massive ball if you have it cut right.
I think that headbands can look good, but it really depends on the person and the hairtype.

Theres one guy at my 6th form who wears one and it looks completely rediculous as it just looks like a giant sweat band.
However, theres a guy I've seen out and about with one in a david beckham sort of style and it looks okay.

Haha, mollymustard, i know what you mean, like they're going to the gym. I don't mean like that. Belle-x, you said Torres wears one so i took a look and that's kind of that i mean, but a thicker band, see:

It looks similar to that, which i think is kind of cool. People are right in saying that if i like it then i shouldn't worry buit i'm not that confident really, i wish i was, i suppose people do all sorts of wacky stuff to their hair.

Really, thanks everyone, people are so friendly on this forum.
