Coming to the end of my second week on Roaccutane so here’s a little update on everything.
Week one
For the first few days I didn’t really notice any difference, it was only until about the 4th day I started to notice the following side effects:
- dry skin everywhere and extremely dry and flakey around the T-zone (nose and eyebrows)
- slightly chapped lips
Week two
- The dry skin became more severe, constantly having to moisturise now, especially the T-zone it’s extremelt flakey and dry, even after applying moisturiser a couple hours later it begins to flake and peel again
- pretty bad chapped lips, constantly having to use Vaseline
- sunburn for first time. I have olive skin and am from a Mediterranean background/naturally tanned, I rarely use sun cream as I never use to burn. however I went out in the sun for a few hours in just shorts and for the first time I got severely sun burnt. My entire stomach and legs are bright red and pink and extremely painful, it’s been 4 days since this happened and it has not calmed down or fade away, haven’t been able to sleep properly due to the pain or even shower as the water feels like fire once it touches me. It looks a lot like second degree sun burns on google images and I haven’t been able to leave the house since due to the pain and how horrible it looks. So yes another side effect - EXTREMELY sensitive skin to sunlight.
- finally this is kinda applied to the dry skin side effect, however I would say more weak/fragile skin, even hitting (very gently) my arm against a wall or my hand against something results in the skin of that area shedding/peeling off.
Now for the results:
I have not seen any improvements so far however it’s still quite early, I’ve notice I’ve had a small new break out recently but I was told to expect these and they won’t last very long.
Will comment again in another 2 weeks updating everyone. Feel free to comment if anyone has any questions in the meantime.
